St. John`s Cathedral is the cathedral of the Archdiocese of Warsaw. It was built in the fourteenth century, altered several times, and destroyed by the German occupiers during the Second World War, in 1944. The current building, built after the war, is a reconstruction close to the original Gothic church. The crypt contains the tomb of the writer Henryk Sienkiewicz
