Flamboyant Australian singer, songwriter, musician,entertainer and Oscar-winner, Peter Allen, entertains onstage at Radio City Music Hall in New York City in January, 1987. Allen won the Academy Award in 1981 for Best Original Song for `Arthur`s Theme: The Best That You Can Do.` He also wrote a song deeply moving to his countrymen, `I Still Call Australia Home.` Allen was married to Liza Minnelli before he came out as gay. He died from complications from AIDS on June 18, 1982 in San Diego, California at the age of 48.
