Description
Is an important Inca archaeological site located 110 km south of Cusco.Viracocha Spanish or Wiracocha in Quechua was considered by the Inca to be the creator deity having emerged from Lake Titicaca to create the world.Legend has it that Viracocha while in the Raqch`i area was offended by the Canas people after which he rained fire down on the area from the nearby Kinsachata volcano. This did the trick and the Canas became loyal subjects of Viracocha erecting a statue in his honour which became a focal point of other temples which followed culminating in the building of Raqch`i, which featured one of the largest buildings ever built by the Inca
