Howell Binkley Wins At 2016 Tony Awards Editorial Image

Howell Binkley wins a Tony for Best Lighting Design of a Musical for his work with the blockbuster hit of the season, `Hamilton.` The event was held at the press room, near the venue, the Beacon Theatre, on Amsterdam Avenue in New York City on June 12, 2016. In this black-and-white rendering, at the apex of his his very successful career, he had 9 Tony nominations and won twice; the first time for the original Broadway production of `Jersey Boys` in 2006. Binkley died from lung cancer on August 14, 2020, at the age of 64.
