Description
The common or green iguana Iguana iguana is the largest member of the family: the length of an adult iguana reaches 1.5 m with a mass of up to 7 kg, although in the forests of South America some individuals can reach a length of 2 m with a mass of 8 kg. At birth, the length of the cubs varies from 17 to 25 cm with a weight of about 12 g. Despite its name, the iguana color is not necessarily green, and largely depends on the age and area of residence.
