Caves of Sare, a basque village in Labourd, south of France. From the Neolithic to the Bronze Age the cave of Lezea one of the most important of the whole was inhabited by farming and livestock communities. The ethnologist José Miguel Barandiaran studied them, as they were the subject of legends and were the scene of persecutions about alleged witches in the region during the seventeenth
