Holstein staircase in Wuppertal Germany #196432926
Description
The Holstein staircase in Wuppertal, Germany. The staircase with 112 steps dates from 1900. In 2006, artist Horst Gläsker converted the Holstein staircase into an installation. He interpreted the nine sections of the staircase as nine sections of life and painted each of the 112 steps in a different color to represent the path of life. Words are written on the front side that can only be read when climbing the mountain. The words contain simple terms and are sorted according to their meaning, such as `friendship` and `enmity`, `love`, `anger`, `delusion` and `envy`, `loyalty` and `understanding`. At the same time, the terms correspond to the colored background and are themselves written in the complementary color. Gläsker calls the work `Scala` `Scala` of colors ... `Scala` of feelings.
