Hildesheim is a German university town in the south of Lower Saxony.The city was founded in 815 and has an 11th-century cathedral, which was built on the site of a war-torn 9th-century cathedral. It is also the seat of the bishop.In 1985, the cathedral together with the Church of St. Michala inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
