Title
Tobacco crop in Andorra #19753338
Description
Across the country there are many small fields growing tobacco. This was originally for local consumption, however things changed in the 1940s when Andorra began opening duty free shops. The Andorran government brokered a deal with tobacco companies wanting to sell products within their country that those companies must also buy their tobacco crop. However as the crop is of poor quality the companies pay the local farmers a premium price after which much of the crop is burned.
