Description
Singer, actress, and activist Helen Reddy entertains at ChicagoFest in August, 1979. She is perhaps best known for her number one pop hit, which she co-wrote, `I am Woman,` which became an iconic feminist anthem and won her a Grammy in 1972. Reddy held both American and Australian citizenship and also became a hypnotherapist and motivational speaker. Reddy, a breast cancer survivor who suffered in her later years from Addison`s disease and dementia, died on September 29, 2020, in Los Angeles, California at the age of 78. In an interesting coincidence, Reddy's colleague, singer and songwriter Mac Davis died a few hours later, in Nashville,Tennessee, also at age 78. Davis appeared on 'The Helen Reddy Show' on tv in 1973 and wrote 'I believe in Music' which appeared in a 1971 Reddy album.
