Description
A sundial is a device that tells the time of day when there is sunlight by the apparent position of the Sun in the sky. In the narrowest sense of the word, it consists of a flat plate - the dial and a gnomon, which casts a shadow onto the dial. Starigrad Fortress is a 15th-century fortress located near Omis in Split-Dalmatia county. The fortress or Fortica was built during the Croatianââ¬âOttoman wars as a primary defence against the Ottoman Empire. The precipitous fortification is sited on a 262 m ridge above the town Omis. In the event of attack, its purpose was to provide refuge for local people and be a stronghold where they could retreat to and resist the Turks. Dalmatia, Croatia, Europe.
