Description
The sandstone or psamita is a sedimentary rock type detrital , varying in color, containing clasts of size sand. After shales they are the most common sedimentary rocks in the earth`s crust. Sandstones contain interstitial spaces between their grains. In recent source rocks these spaces are not solid material while in older rocks are filled with a matrix or cement of silica or calcium carbonate.
