Description
Dresden castle-residence, also the palace-residence - the former residence of the Saxon electors and kings. One of the oldest buildings in Dresden, the architecture of which can be traced to styles from Romanesque to eclecticism. The first mention of the presence of a fortification in Dresden dates back to 1289. Subsequently, the castle was rebuilt many times, it acquired its modern look in 1901, when the last major reconstruction was carried out under the leadership of architects Gustav Dunger and Gustav Frhlich.
