This name, which designates many of the 500-700 species of Ipomoea, is due to the behavior of its open flowers at night or in the light. The Greek word `Ips` designates worm ÃÆúÿÃâ¦Ã»Ã®ÃºÃ¹, `ipomoea` refers to its entanglement. Ipomoeas were already designated as `Convolvulus` and this species by Convolvulus pupurea for its color, only in the 20th century did it receive its current name Glória da Manhã Morning Glory.
