The Hupmobile Company was founded in 1908 and had its first production run later that year. The company went into decline when it abandoned its original customer base of lower priced cars and decided to go upscale with a larger inline eight engine and fancier body styles. This required large outlays of capital to purchase additional production facilities . The company eventually went out of business in 1939 on the eve of World War II.
