Description
The locality called Lastva was mentioned in the XII century. The rich historical past is evidenced by the preserved Roman mosaics & x28;late IV-early III century BC& x29;, the Church of St. Thomas & x28;sv. Tome& x29;, St. Elijah & x28;sv. Ilije& x29; and St. Vida & x28;sv. Vida& x29;, the Castello fortress & x28;Kastelo& x29; and the walls of the infirmary. Also of interest is the Church of the Holy cross & x28;crkva sv. Krsta& x29; of the XIV century, located above Petrovec in the village of Novoselje on the road to Podgorica, and the Gradiste monastery in the neighboring village of Buljarice. In the XVI century, the Venetian Republic established dominance over the village. In the late XVIII ââ¬â early XIX century on the ruins of the village there is the town Castel Lastva, only in the XX century, which received its present name Petrovac.
