Description
Harmsworth`s Universal Encyclopaedia 1920s - Social History. Diagram illustrating the principal parts and the method of reproducing sound. Vibrations of diaphragm on reproducer are conveyed through the tone arm into the sound box, whence they issue through louvres, interior of sound box. A phonograph, in its later forms also called a gramophone or since the 1940s called a record player, is a device for the mechanical recording and reproduction of sound.
