Description
Budai is a semi-historical Chinese monk who is venerated as Maitreya Buddha in Zen or Chan Buddhism. As he is traditionally depicted as fat, he is also referred to as the `Fat Buddha`. Thekchen Choling was established in 1999 and is named after the monastery of the Dalai Lama. Founded on the Gelug Tibetan Buddhism tradition, it promotes non-sectarian Buddhism.
