Description
Hunderton Railway Bridge over the River Wye at Hereford, Herefordshire, England. This bridge carried the first railway to reach Hereford, the Newport, Abergavenny and Hereford Railway, opened in 1853 and running into Hereford`s first station at Barton Street. However, with the arrival of lines in Hereford from Shrewsbury and Ross on Wye, a new station was opened at Barrs Court. In 1866, the whole section of line to Barton Street including this bridge was bypassed and in 1893, Barton Street lost its passenger services and became Hereford`s goods station. It remained in use until 1979, at which point the track was lifted. The bridge pictured here is now a footbridgern
