Winter Storm Gail record-breaking snowstorm December 16, 2020. Low pressure moved northward over northeast united states with high snow totals. Hoarfrost is a grayish-white crystalline deposit of frozen water vapor formed in clear still weather over a dome of cold air. A covering of minute ice crystals, formed from the atmosphere at night upon the ground and exposed objects when they have cooled by radiation below the dew point.
