The female gently carries her young, perhaps pausing to forage. The baby gorilla is sound asleep on his secure perch on the female`s back. The sculpture is in honor of Nancy B. and Jake L. Hamon. Jake was a legendary oil and gas operation who died in 1984. Nancy Blackburn Hamon was his widow and died at age 92 in 2011, a noted philanthropist with many beneficiaries of her largess.
