Title
The Capitol the great national centre in Rome as it appeared when the Romans ruled the world. #206340174
Description
The Capitolium or Capitoline Hill between the Forum and the Campus Martius is one of the Seven Hills of Rome. The hill was earlier known as Mons Saturnius dedicated to the god Saturn. Huge temples built by Rome's kings once stood on top of Capitoline Hill. They became symbolic of Rome's power and position in the world. During the middle ages the hill was used as a goat pasture due to the depopulation of Rome.
