Description
Rockett Christian Church grew out of an early worship service that began in the area about 1853. This structure was constructed in 1900-190. This building Gothic building features Lancet windows an octagonal front porch interior beaded board wainscoting and the original wooden pews. Despite a period in the 1960's the Sanctuary was later reopened for regular service. The land was purchased on August 29 1900 for $125. The plot is on Farm Road 813 eight miles Northeast of Waxahachie Texas. Construction began December 9 1900 the building was completed April 29 1901 and a dedication service was held by Elder A. E. Ewell and He preached the dedicatory sermon for the "Handsome new church". At the time the building had a wood shingle roof and brick piers. The original Wainscot windows and floors are still in place. The chimney also still remains today.
