Description
The Nelson Mandela bridge designed by architect Johan Bak was opened in 1992. It has a length of 180 meters and connects the United Nations Square in the Rokkeveen district, south of the A12 highway, with the Driemanspolder district north of the national highway. It crosses the A12, the Utrecht-Gouda-The Hague railway line and a RandstadRail lightrail. The bridge passes under the building `De Poort van Zoetermeer`. Bridge could be entered using an elevator and/or, even with bikes, the moving staircases.
