Mandarin oranges Lukan variety, in a white bowl, against white background #208494386
Description
Exchanging Mandarin oranges is a must during Chinese New Year. Originating from Southern China, the tradition of giving mandarin oranges is known as ââ¬Åsong gamââ¬Â in Cantonese. Coincidentally, it also means ââ¬Ågiving goldââ¬Â, which the luck-obsessed Chinese have used as a symbol of conferring prosperity and well wishes to the recipient. Lukan is a popular variety of mandarin orange. Its skin is thin and slightly wrinkled which makes it easy to peel. Flavour-wise, it is sweet and juicy, with acidic and tangy notes.
