Bike on the road #208575831
Description
Imported directly from the Netherlands, onthel bikes began to be widely used during the Dutch East Indies era, which at that time was mostly used by urban communities. Then in the 1970s, the existence of onthel bikes began to be shifted by jengki bikes which were more compact in size, and had no different designs for men and women. Onthel bikes in the 1970s slowly began to be used by rural communities rather than urban areas. This is because urban people have started to switch to motorized vehicles. However, in the end due to their age and rarity, onthel bikes have turned into antiques and unique. But now, in the 2000s, onthel bikes are being hunted again by all groups, from students, students to officials. In Indonesia, onthel bikes are still widely found and used for commercial and agricultural purposes in villages. Whereas in urban areas, onthel bikes are usually still used by motorcycle taxis and as a rental vehicle for tourists.
