Title
Slices of peeled mandarin oranges (Lukan variety) on a serving plate against white background #208583135
Description
Exchanging Mandarin oranges is a must during Chinese New Year. Originating from Southern China the tradition of giving mandarin oranges is known as ââ¬Åsong gamââ¬Â in Cantonese. Coincidentally it also means ââ¬Ågiving goldââ¬Â which the luck-obsessed Chinese have used as a symbol of conferring prosperity and well wishes to the recipient. Lukan is a popular variety of mandarin orange. Its skin is thin and slightly wrinkled which makes it easy to peel. Flavour-wise it is sweet and juicy with acidic and tangy notes.
