After more than fifteen years of preparation and a year of construction the largest 'nearshore' wind farm in the Netherlands was completed in June last year. Off the coast in the IJsselmeer just above the Urk peninsula 48 windmills were placed in the IJsselmeer. They must generate energy for approximately 160 000 households. Urk received very negative news last week because the Urk youth started rioting out of dissatisfaction with the Corona and curfew measures. In the following 3 evenings it has been very restless throughout the country youth of non-Dutch descent in particular have been violent against the police and other aid workers and millions of euros in damage has been caused by vandalism and looting. Many arrests were the result and a few swindlers have already been brought to court by means of a summary judgment and have already been convicted.
