Description
Gangan, Talking drum with Saworo Ide, brass bells, is a Nigeria, Yoruba two faced drumheads musical instrument with the skin fastened to a hollowed out hourglass wood and leather tension cords that control the pitch of the drum sound by squeezing them between the arm and the body of the player. It has a shoulder strap and a kongo or bent stick used for playing the drum. The Saworo Ide or small brass bells add a delightful musical tone .It is common along the West Coast of Africa, Cuba, Brazil and the Caribbean or wherever the Yoruba have settled.
