The Grand Bunker at Ouistreham #210650902
Description
Le Grand Bunker Musee: Le Mur De L`Atlantique is a fascinating museum of WWII equipment and memorabilia preserved inside an imposing German bunker at Ouistreham. The 52ft high concreteÃÂ bunker was in chargeÃÂ of the batteries covering theÃÂ River Orne and theÃÂ canal and formed a lastÃÂ pocket of Nazi resistance when the British troops landed at Sword Beach and took the town. Inside the bunker you can see all 6 floors filled with rooms of memorabilia - the generator room, the first aid post, the radioÃÂ transmissions room, ammunitions store, arms store and the observation post with a panoramic view over Sword Beach at the top. The tower has been fully restored to make it look how it was on the 6th of June 1944, D-Day.
