Modern Stained Glass Window, Franciscan Friary, Bolzano, Italy #211116993
Description
A modern stained glass window shines in the ancient Franciscan Church established in the early 1300ââ¬â¢s in Bolzano, Italy. Created by Innsbruck artist, Josef Widmoser, the three stained glass windows that border the church apse behind the altar, depict biblical scenes, but also include a stark image of two Nazi soldiers possibly questioning a prone figure. The historic church was destroyed in a bombing raid in 1944, but was rebuilt after the war. The modern windows were installed as part of the reconstruction.
