Vintage black and white photo of Banbury Cross 1930s. #211162301
Description
1930s black and white vintage photo of Banbury Cross, England. Erected in 1859, this notable statue commemorates the wedding of Queen Victoria`s eldest daughter. The nursery rhyme, `Ride a Cock Horse`, has made Banbury one of the best-known towns in England. It has been suggested that the `Fine Lady` of the nursery rhyme may have been Lady Godiva, wife of Leofric of Coventry, famous for her ride, allegedly naked, through that city some 900 years ago. Social history of 1930s lifestyle / holiday / attraction / day out.
