The church of San Giovanni Battista at the gates of Florence is also called the church of the Autostrada del Sole due to its location at the intersection of the Autostrada del Sole and the A11 Firenze-Mare, or more simply the church of the motorway. It was built by Giovanni Michelucci between 1960 and 1964. It extends into an oasis of six thousand square meters half of which are covered, just outside the Firenze Nord exit. It is administratively located in the municipality of Campi Bisenzio, in the hamlet of Limite; from the ecclesiastical point of view, the church is a rectory dependent on the Pieve di Santo Stefano a Campi and is part of the Vicariate of Campi Bisenzio. wikipwdia 8/6/17
