Description
The Deposition by master artist Michelangelo is also known as the Florentine Pieta or Bandini Pieta. It was the artistââ¬â¢s final sculpture and was almost destroyed by the master in a fit of frustration. The artwork was saved by Francesco Bandini and partially restored by an apprentice sculptor. The cloaked figure is Nicodemus and thought to be a self-portrait of Michelangelo. The sculpture is exhibited in the Museo dellââ¬â¢Opera del Duomo Duomo Museum in Florence.
