Description
Then longtime legendary Jerusalem mayor, Teddy Kollek, former president and minister of education and culture Yitzhak Navon, and Speaker of the Israeli Knesset Shlomo Hillel take in the Mimouna Festival celebrating the culture of North African Jewry, at Sacher Park in Jerusalem, Israel, on April 10, 1986. Peres was a Nobel laureate and served as president as well. Hillel, a recipient of the Israel Prize, played a significant role in the mass exodus of Jews to Israel from his native Iraq and began the process which brought virtually the entire Ethiopian Jewish population to Israel. All 3 political figures enjoyed exceptional longevity. Kollek died in 2007 at 95, Navon passed in 2015 at 94, and Hillel died on February 8, 2021 at 97.
