Wilt Chamberlain at Santa Monica Beach in 1975 #211318362
Description
NBA Hall of Fame center Wilt Chamberlain takes a break after a pick-up volleyball game on the Santa Monica, California, beach on November 19, 1975. Known by such nicknames as `Wilt the Stilt` and `The Big Dipper,` Chamberlain was an imposing force on the basketball court during his lengthy and prodigiously productive career which ended in 1974. He holds NBA records for career points and rebounds. The 7-foot one inch 300-pound giant was an offensive juggernaut, but his presence in the lane served as a strong defensive deterrent. He also competed for a year in a fledgling pro volleyball league. He died on October 12, 1999 in Bel Air, Los Angeles, at the age of 63.
