Sitting on a huge pedestal, this massive statue of Lord Shiva carved in stone and sitting under a blue sky, is an impressive sight. The statue itself is about 85 feet high and about 40 feet wide and located outside the Nageshwar Jyotirlinga Temple this is one among the twelve Jyotirlinga Temples in India Serpents cover the body and a garland of Rudraksha beads adorns the neck, with the Lord’s soft and gentle eyes staring into the distance. On one outstretched palm is carved the words - Om Namah Shivaya. Live pigeons flutter and settle on His limbs and stray cows wander nearby, creating an out of the world spiritual experience, marred only by the chattering tourists taking selfies under the statue.
