Historic remains of Wat Kamphaeng Laeng, an ancient Khmer temple in Phetchaburi, Thailand #213527056
Description
Built during the Khmer era, Wat Kamphaeng Laeng originally served as a Hindu place of worship and was later changed to a Buddhist temple. It is said that Wat Kamphaeng Laeng represents the southernmost extant Khmer temple in Thailand, of what would once have been the frontier of the Angkor Empire. What remains today is a laterite perimeter wall and the ruins of four laterite towers or prangs, as well as plasterwork Buddha statues that were added later during the Ayutthaya Kingdom.
