Description
Michalská Gate is the only preserved gate of the original four in the Bratislava city fortifications, today a monument in the Old Town. It was named after the settlement and the church of St. Michael, which was not far from the suburbs. Today, the settlement is reminiscent only of a pink tombstone, used in the masonry tower, at a height of about the third floor visible from the inside. In the past, it had a drawbridge, a drawstring and strong wooden gates. To this day, the upper crossbar with holes for door hinges has been preserved. The tower was built at the end of the 14th century
