Cathedral Basilica ( Mazara) he architectural changes of the Cathedral give an initial idea of the complexity of the history of Mazara del Vallo. Its tradition of cathedral city is revealed in the domes, the bell, and in some quiet corner of surviving. Upon the churches overlooking the Cathedral, which can be considered an example of the most interesting of Norman architecture, built in 1093 by Count Roger of Hauteville, a vow during the decisive battle of 1072 against the Saracens. A marble relief of 1584 on the main portal of the temple is the winner of Count Roger, and Cristu amuruso of the trust (the love of Christ and the faith), a Muslim land on horseback. Norman building survives only the walls of the transept and apse. Towards the end of the seventeenth century, the church, in fact, is almost radically transformed by repeated restorations in a beautiful baroque cathedral basilica plan, a Latin cross. The main facade is flanked by an imposing tower of the seventeenth century.
