Pictured is a granite based bronze sculpture titled `Confederate Monument 1896` on the grounds of the Grayson County Courthouse in downtown Sherman, Texas. It is the oldest Confederate soldier monument in Texas and one of only three bronze figures erected in the state of Texas before the turn of the century. The larger than life-size bronze was cast at an unidentified foundry in Saint Louis, Missouri. The granite was quarried at Stone Mountain, Georgia.
