The Grand (Menshikov) Palace. Oranienbaum, Russia) #21624284
Description
Architects: G. Schädel, G. Fontana, I. Braunstein. The Palace with the Lower Regular Garden was constructed in 1711-1727 for Prince Alexander Menshikov, the first Governor General of Saint-Petersburg, the closest associate of Peter I. This ensemble, as well as the other imperial maritime residences of the Peterhof road, expressed the pathos of the victory of Russia in the Northern War and the conquest of the coast of the Baltic Sea. It is one of the few survived architectural monuments of the Petrine epoch.
