The ancient ruins and upper arches and the intrecate stone masonary vaulted walls of the once impressive structure and impressive ruins are situated about a mile and a half from the village of Craigie and are recognised as one of the earliest buildings in the country and thought to have been the birth place of William Wallace when the castle was owned by his grandfather
