Memorial for Father Alfred E. Smith, MM at the Saint Benedict`s Painted Church on the Big Island, Hawaii. The engraved stone is set in the lava stone base of the copy of Michaelangelo`s Pieta outside the Painted Church. It includes his date of birth and death and a picture. He was born January 25th, 1919 and died November 28th, 1996. Among his many assignments, he was named pastor at the Painted Church in 1980.Throughout his missionary career his jocular personality drew people to him.
