It was a big year for the Dukakis clan in 1988 as she garnered an Academy Award for Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role for her work in `Moonstruck,` and a few months later, her cousin, Michael Dukakis received the Democratic Party nomination for President. Dukakis and her actor husband Louis Zorich founded the acclaimed Whole Theater Company in Montclair which offered diverse fair of high quality from its stage in Montclair, New Jersey. Ms Dukakis died in her home in New York City on May 1, 2021 at the age of 89.
