The Mercer Oak on Princeton Battlefield from the American Revolutionary War. A large white oak tree once stood on the spot. It was said that Hugh Mercer a Brigadier General in the Continental army took shelter under the tree after being mortally wounded, refusing to give ground to the British on January 3, 1777.
