Cannon on the promontory of Bordighera Liguria, Italy #220340029
Description
The Marabutto is one of the characteristic places of Bordighera. Overlooking the sea, the Marabutto deformed name of Arab origin is a former powder magazine that still houses three showy guns which, in 1812, proved powerless to prevent the enemy landing by two frigates and an English vessel; the guns in question are still called today `Butafoegu, Tiralogni and Cagastrasse`. The Marabutto has recently been refurbished.
