Description
Yellow, pink, purple, white ipe treeââ¬Â¦ you have certainly seen and been enchanted by any of them, regardless of the region of Brazil in which you live. It`s just that the species can be found in all corners of our country. In fact, the yellow ipe was declared as the national symbol flower in 1961.The Ipê tree is so national that its very name denounces its origins: in Tupi, it means husk tree. But its name does not remain the same in all regions of Brazil: in the north, east and northeast, it is known as pau d`arco, a term that was inherited from the indigenous culture, in which the tree was used to make bows and arrow. In the Pantanal, they call it peúva from the Tupi, bark tree and in some regions of Minas Gerais and Goiás, ipeún.
