Description
Barsana Monastery is one of the landmarks of Maramures. The reason being that, is the beautiful church and the other wooden buildings made by craftsmen from Maramures inside of assembly. The Barsana Monastery church is one of the tallest wooden church in Romania, having 57m height, part of the UNESCO world heritage. Barsana Monastery ensemble consists of: the New Church of the Monastery ââ¬ÅSynaxis of the 12 Apostlesââ¬Â, the summer Altar, Aghiasmatarul, the priory, the nunsââ¬â¢ house, the confessorââ¬â¢s house, the belfry and the museum. The Summer Altar was built between 1996-1997. It is made out in the same specific style of popular architecture in Maramures.
