Bad Koenigshofen is a city in Germany which has been a sister city of Arlington since 1951. Mayor Tom Vandergriff and the citizens of Arlington sent boxcar loads of clothing, medical supplies and food to the city which was in dire straights with the closing of the border between East and West Germany after World War II. In 1951, Mr. Kurt Zuhike, and administrator of the German city was traveling through Texas and shared the plight of the city with newly elected mayor Tom Vandergriff.
